NOTES: Waldemarsudde was originally the home of Prince Eugen (1865-1947), the youngest son of Oscar II, and a well-regarded landscape painter as well as collector. The complex consists of a castle-like main building, built by Ferdinand Boberg in 1905-1906, and a gallery building, added in 1913 for the Prince's large collection of mainly Swedish contemporary artists. The gallery was further extended in 1945. Waldemarsudde became state-owned after the Prince's death, and in accordance with his will, it became an art museum.
