NOTES:
Pheidias (or Phidias) was a Greek sculptor, painter and architect who is commonly regarded as one of the greatest of all sculptors of Classical Greece. He was responsible for the statute of Zeus at Olympia and that of Athena on the Athenian Acropolis. He also supervised and probably designed the overall sculptural decoration of the Parthenon.
