RIBA Gulf Chapter: call for nominations for a new Chair
The RIBA is pleased to announce that the Gulf Chapter will be appointing a new Chair. The chapter has made huge strides in developing a presence in the region, and we are now looking for a dedicated professional who will lead the chapter forward into 2020, as we focus on the future of the profession in the Gulf.
This year has seen increasing engagement across the GCC, with the largest ever RIBA Cityscape Global programme happening in 2019, and the KFAS + RIBA 'Happiness in the City' symposium unfolding in Kuwait City, which was supported by the new RIBA international team.
The role of Chair will require active participation, and the new Chair will be expected to attend regular monthly meetings. This will be a great opportunity to be involved in one of the RIBA's most active International Chapters at a very exciting time, as the new UAE RIBA office opens in January 2020, and as the Dubai World Expo starts in October 2020.
RIBA would like to take this opportunity to thank Sumaya Dabbagh for her leadership and commitment as Chair over the last four years.
Any Chartered Member with a declared address in the Gulf region may stand for election for the Honorary post of Chair. Candidates will require two nominations from Chartered Members, and will need to complete a nomination form.
All candidates are also required to complete an Election statement, outlining their reasons for applying for the role. Completed election statements must be sent to firstname.lastname@example.org by Wednesday 18 December 2019.
If there are multiple candidates applying, an election notice will be sent out on Wednesday 8 January 2020, with an e-ballot for members to vote for their chosen candidate. Results will follow shortly after that.
