My local RIBA

RIBA is a charity and global professional body promoting architecture and providing a range of experiences across the regions for architects, students and those interested in the built environment.

Through our network of volunteer led groups, branches and chapters we seek to connect, inform and inspire our members and the wider communities in which they work and live.

We have a network of branches and special interest groups across England and Wales (run through the Royal Society of Architects in Wales, which remains part of RIBA) and several International chapters. You can find out more about this network and who to contact further down this page, under the relevant geographical region.

We also work with similar organisations across the world, including the Royal Incorporation of Architects in Scotland (affiliate organisation), the Royal Society of Ulster Architects (affiliate organisation) and the Architects’ Council of Europe. 

Branches and chapters listed on this page are eligible to apply for financial support from the RIBA via the annual Local Initiative Fund (LIF) to fund activities that align with our 2034 Masterplan.

English regional and national offices

The East of England is one of the largest English regions, covering the counties of Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire, Essex, Hertfordshire, Suffolk and Norfolk.

The East Midlands region comprises the counties of Derbyshire, Leicestershire, Lincolnshire, Rutland, Northamptonshire and Nottinghamshire.

The West Midlands is made up of 12,998 square km. Covering Herefordshire, Worcestershire, Warwickshire, Staffordshire and Shropshire as well as the metropolitan boroughs.

RIBA Yorkshire covers the largest county in the country, with diverse landscape ranging from the East Yorkshire coastline and Humber estuary to the Yorkshire Dales and Moors.

RIBA International

We offer support for professionals registered with RIBA based or wanting to work internationally, with four global regions - Americas, Europe, Middle East and Africa, and Asia and Australasia - and a network of International Chapters serving local communities of architects across the world and hosting regular events and activities.

RIBA International regions

We have a dedicated platform of four international regions: RIBA Americas, RIBA Asia and Australasia, RIBA Europe, and RIBA Middle East and Africa.
Americas Region

RIBA Americas

RIBA Americas covers both North and South America. The Americas Region champions the profession through our RIBA validated Schools of Architecture across both North and South America. The Americas Region is represented at RIBA Council through an elected representative.

Asia and Australasia region

RIBA Asia and Australasia

RIBA Asia and Australasia supports a community of 2,500 professionals making our region the RIBA community internationally, with Chapters in Hong Kong and China. The Asia & Australasia Region is represented at RIBA Council through an elected representative.

Europe region

RIBA Europe

RIBA Europe supports a wide range of professional networks and communities across the whole region. The Europe Region is represented at RIBA Council through an elected representative.

Middle East and Africa region

RIBA Middle East and Africa

RIBA Middle East and Africa supports almost 1,000 members across the continent of Africa, the Middle East and the Gulf Cooperation Council states with a RIBA Chapter in the Gulf. The Middle East & Africa Region is represented at RIBA Council through an elected representative.

RIBA’s vision is to be a ‘global professional membership body driving excellence in architecture’. Our role is to support our international members and our international communities which is crucial to achieving this vision.

We represent the interests of our international members through a dedicated platform of four international regions: RIBA Americas, RIBA Asia and Australasia, RIBA Europe, and RIBA Middle East and Africa. The aim is to build on local expertise by sharing knowledge and to influence the framework in which architecture can flourish internationally.
