Supersurfaces shows the results of the design method introduced by Sophia Vyzoviti in Folding Architecture: Design Through Folding. In the form of a pocket diary, this booklet makes clear how the new technique of folding can be applied not only in architecture, but also in industrial, product or textile manufacture. Vyzoviti uses paper as an empirical model. She investigates and systematically describes how flat paper is transformed into volumes when creating prototypes. The research in this second book goes a step further, using more durable materials but with qualities similar to paper. Supersurfaces is filled with hand-folded, twisted, wound and woven forms. Sophia Vyzoviti received her PhD in design methodology as a Greek state scholar at Delft University of Technology, Design Knowledge Systems, where she developed a design tool conditioning the emergence potential of public spaces. In this approach, the appropriation of urban spaces by distinct groups was investigated through empirical research resulting to models of representation, explanation and prescription. Prior to TUDelft, she completed her Master in Architecture at the Berlage Institute after earning a diploma in Architecture from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. She has taught architectural design at University of Cyprus, National University of Singapore and Delft University of Technology. She actively engages in numerous workshops both as instructor and critic and lectures worldwide
