Habinteg is a housing association with a unique vision. Founded in 1970 the organisation wants communities to include disabled people, offering places to live that meet their needs and provide the highest levels of independence, choice and control over daily life. Habinteg champions inclusion by providing accessible homes and neighbourhoods that welcome and include everyone and by using its expert knowledge to inspire and influence decision makers. The Centre for Accessible Environments (CAE) pioneered the provision of access guidance for building designers nearly 50 years ago and remains a leading authority on inclusive design. Today, CAE is a technical division within Habinteg, where it continues to provide consultancy, training and publications on designing to meet the needs of disabled and older people wherever they choose to live, work or visit.
