Design Day: Living In Light and Colour, architecture workshop for ages 11 to 15

In this creative architecture workshop (for children aged 11 to 15 years) participants will design and create physical models and collage drawings, to explore the ways colour and light can be designed to suit the different activities or uses of architectural spaces.

About the Workshop

Colour is all around us. We experience colours in the built environment in variations of daylight and artificial light. Both colour and light have effects that are symbolic, associative and emotional, expressing very different moods that support the function of a space and affecting our wellbeing.

By making physical models and creating collage drawings, this workshop explores the ways colour and light can be designed to suit the different activities or uses of architectural spaces.

This creative architecture workshop is led by Architect Xuhong Zheng (Hawkins\Brown) and architectural designer Cherng-Min Teong (Scott Whitby Studio) for children aged 11 to 15.

More about the architects.

All workshops require you to drop off your child by 11am and pick up at 4pm. They are led by professional educators and all materials are included in the ticket price, but you should prepare a packed lunch for your child. Online booking in advance is essential.

About the Workshop Series

Our Design Day workshops take architectural design and understanding a step further. Past workshops have focused on different architectural styles, construction methods, using model-making, traditional and digital drawing techniques, and using games such as Minecraft to design collaboratively in a shared space.
