Celebrated for his minimalist aesthetic, John Pawson’s work is known for its simplicity in form and primarily white colour palette. Yet, his photography tells another story, one of endless colour.
At this talk, Pawson will be in conversation with critically acclaimed contemporary artist Michael Craig-Martin. Using an intense palette, with each colour brought to its highest level of intensity, Craig-Martin’s recent portfolio similarly presents a riot of colour. Together, Pawson and Craig-Martin will explore the intimate connection between architecture, photography and colour through a presentation of previously unseen photographs from Pawson’s newly published Spectrum (Phaidon).
Captured on a digital camera or an iPhone, the photographs in Spectrum represent either a fragment of narrative from individual projects, far-flung travels or a moment that caught his eye in the course of an ordinary day. Curated to illustrate the dramatic variety of colour, Spectrum also highlights the patterns, details, textures, and spatial arrangements that can inspire Pawson’s work. Spectrum will amaze even devoted fans of Pawson and his acclaimed portfolio.
For this special event we have partnered with Phaidon and RIBA Bookshop to offer you this complementary talk when you purchase Spectrum at a discounted price of £40, RRP £45.
