Light Night descends upon Liverpool once a year, serving the city with a fantastic night of free performances, exhibitions, installations, workshops, talks and much more. The streets come alive and a whole host of cultural venues open their doors.
This year RIBA North is delighted to be one of those venues.
Light Night provides a late-night opportunity to explore our latest exhibition 'It Will Never Work', which marks the 25th birthday of Manchester-based developers, Urban Splash. Their story started in Liverpool, with the regeneration of concert square and this exhibition charts many award-winning projects alongside a backdrop of the shifts in the social and political climate that played a significant role in the Urban Splash journey.
At 6pm, Jonathan Falkingham MBE (Co-founder and Creative Director) will be conducting a guided tour of the exhibition and offering up the wider story on some of their key projects. This not-to-be-missed insight into the Urban Splash world will be ticketed so we can manage capacity. If you would like to come along for the tour, please register for your free ticket in advance.
In Gallery Two we have a special installation called 'Diffringere' by artist Jayson Haebich, commissioned for the evening by Liverpool Light Night.
The installation is an interactive work that creates a mesmerising effect of colour and light, taking the pure white light from a laser and breaking it apart into millions of its component colours, these are scattered around to create a dazzling array of colour and light.
We will also be keeping our shop open all evening to tempt you with our great range of goodies, featuring and inspired by great design and architecture.
