Join us for a tour of The Boiler House with Howarth Litchfield, the architects behind the major conservation and refurbishment project.

At the historic core of Newcastle University and still the heart of the campus, is the substantial Grade 2* listed Armstrong Building. This gothic revival building was completed in four phases between 1889 and 1910, epitomising the idea of the redbrick university. A £25million programme of alterations and repairs – conducted in six phases over five years – has recently been completed, restoring key spaces and creating new ones, removing decades of piecemeal alteration. This was a major conservation and refurbishment, which was shortlisted for the 2018 RIBA Awards. It has also produced original academic research including a graphic novel, and a cultural history of suspended ceilings.

All construction industry professionals welcome to attend!
