Tell us about your practice?

DBLO has been in business for over 20 years. DBLO is an umbrella name overseeing several businesses across design, construction, property development, and property management in the UK and Nigeria. We have a culturally and technically diverse team. We take pride in our values of responsibility, efficiency, sustainability, resourcefulness, creativity, and our commitment to creating joy through simplicity and the unexpected.

What differentiate you from other architects?

We are a true 'tried and tested' design and build firm, working across many nations in Europe and West Africa. Our approach to design has a flair for drama, working with nature and simplicity.

What projects are you currently working on?

We are working on some exciting speculative projects across the UK and Nigeria, including the first-ever museum project in Abuja; a multi-use tower project in Lagos; and an exciting legacy project in London's Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham, among other residential projects across the UK and Nigeria. We expect two of these to be completed by mid-year.

Why do clients come to you?

Our designs are excellent. We design and build to international and UK standards with premium supplies that complement functionality and sustainability in the environments where they are built. Our business is primarily built upon referrals and repeat business. The professional relationships we've built over our tenure have lasted decades. We are dedicated to building and maintaining these connections well into the future.

What have been the highlights for you in the past year?

The opening of the National Counter Terrorism Centre in Abuja, Nigeria – a world-class security fusion centre, which is now the UN's African counter-terrorism centre, is also located. We were also nominated for a West London Business Award. One of our Directors was recently named a 'Fellow' by the Nigerian Artists Society.

What is your special focus for MIPIM 2024?

Our special focus is on sustainable development and innovative technology in real estate, development, design, and construction. We are looking forward to seeing the latest advancements in eco-friendly building materials, smart city technologies, and strategies for achieving net-zero carbon emissions in our industry. We are also looking forward to the many networking opportunities with like-minded individuals and global leaders in sustainability and tech innovation. This aligns with our goal of integrating environmental responsibility and cutting-edge technology into property development and management.

Is there anything exciting on the horizon?

We have some really exciting projects on the horizon across the UK and Nigeria, one of which could become a legacy project in London's Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham. We are hoping to leave a lasting mark on the borough in which we work, particularly regarding accessibility to affordable housing for key workers.
