RIBA + VitrA Talk: MASS Design Group

MASS will present projects demonstrating that innovation, driven by interdisciplinary research, can deliver well-built environments that are efficient, effective, and empowering.

MASS Design Group is a nonprofit design firm based in Boston, United States and Kigali, Rwanda. Founders Michael Murphy and Alan Ricks will join us to discuss their recent works including several healthcare projects and the National Memorial to Peace and Justice for the Equal Justice Initiative in Montgomery, Alabama, which opened in 2018.

MASS Design Group began in 2008 during the design and building of the Butaro District Hospital in Rwanda; a project of Partners In Health and the Rwandan Ministry of Health. Since then, MASS Design Group has expanded to work in over a dozen countries in Africa and the Americas. The practice was set up as a non-profit organization to create a model of practice optimised to deliver maximum impact the communities they serve and their work spans the design of buildings, research, policy, education, and strategic planning.

The RIBA + VitrA partnership reflects a shared commitment to add social, economic and cultural value to society, and VitrA Bathrooms are proud to be supporting such an inspiring programme.

With innovation at its core, a global reach and a tradition of collaborating with celebrated architects and designers, the VitrA bathroom brand has become a world leader, synonymous with contemporary sophistication since the mid 1900’s.

The RIBA + VitrA Talks Series is sponsored by VitrA Bathrooms.
