Bolton Great EstatesDesigned by Broadway Malyan Architects, Bolton Great Estates delivered a series of physical and environmental improvements to four housing estates.
The project was to deliver a series of physical and environmental improvements to four housing estates managed by ‘Bolton at Home’ (a company responsible for the management of approx. 18,500 Council owned properties and their neighbourhoods) . These had to demonstrate best practice in physical regeneration, improving the image of the estate and creating a sense of community pride.
The Great Estates project placed community involvement at the heart of the project from the outset and encouraged tenant participation. Bolton at Home used public consultations, open design workshops, community art events and newsletters to communicate with tenants.
One of the key features of the winning scheme was the creation of individual front gardens, drives and communal parking areas for each property. Extensive tree planting and seasonal ornamental planting has also been carried out across the estate to increase the level of greenery.
