Alteration to existing property, Brownfield site, Within a Conservation Area
EXTENSION TO PUMPHOUSE OFFICES. We have recently carried out further design work to maximise the potential for the client on this site, the project is on going. On a restricted site in the Christchurch Conservation Area we designed a modern extension to this characterful building noted as a heritage asset. With support of our design from our client, the Planning Authority and the Local Conservation group we developed this glazed extension which gives panoramic views over the riverside and Christchurch Quay. The existing brickwork façade was renovated and retained internally to preserve its features and to keep the narrative of the building. The extensive glazing gives a transparency to the building allowing the original form to be perceived form the outside. Climatic control was managed by careful glazing selection and close attention to ventilation and lighting.
