St Johns House Medical Centre is a two-storey purpose built GP facility which forms part of the wider University Park scheme in Worcester. Working alongside Prime (UK) Developments, the new centre has been commissioned by GPs at the existing St John’s House surgery to enable the practice to improve services, support growing patient numbers and develop onsite training facilities. One was brought in to deliver a complete design service, with a focus on energy efficiency and affordability. Using thermal modelling from the outset and adopting the Passivhaus standard to inform each aspect of design, One maximised the use of natural light and ventilation to reduce energy consumption and maintenance costs for the life of the building. With very little reliance on M&E and renewable energy, the medical centre will benefit from lower running costs.
