New hydrotherapy poole and therapy suites for the education centre and disability sports college. The brief called for the design of a ‘state of the art’ hydrotherapy suite, together with therapy rooms, life skills flat and support facilities. The design aims to create a dramatic contrast with the existing buildings, which are of poor architectural quality. The scheme has been organised to create the ‘VEC Sports Centre,’ which links an existing sports hall to the new pool building, by means of a direct public entrance. The facility will not only be used by pupils who attend the school, but also by the local community. The scheme was granted planning approval in November 2009, The new pool has been completed and is in use. Phase 2 - Therapy suites will be under-way once funding has been secured
