This is a new house built to replace an existing traditional house. The house consists of an unobstructed tube that runs front to back, the first floor giving great views at both ends of the house. Balconies and decks at all levels take advantage of the views. Floors and walls are read as a folded plane stepping back at each floor forming a zig zag on plan. This maintains views and gives privacy to the neighbours either side. The dual aspect living space at first floor provides enjoyment of both morning and evening sunlight. It also allows for cross flow ventilation in warmer weather. An air source heat pump and high levels of insulation make this house highly sustainable.
