RIBA East

RIBA East

RIBA East covers the counties of Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire, Essex, Hertfordshire, Suffolk and Norfolk, supporting around 1800 RIBA members, 900 students and 300 practices.

Our coastline extends from the square-mouthed bay of the Wash, through the breath-taking sands of North Norfolk and picturesque Suffolk, to the Essex towns that line the northern bank of the Thames estuary.

Inland, we boast many historic towns and cities, and centres of academic and cultural heritage, as well as a network of county and market towns and villages. In fact, around a quarter of England’s market towns are located in the region.

Known for its rural nature, and mainly low-lying, the East of England is a region of diverse landscapes, combining a rich built environment and archaeological heritage with swathes of agricultural land and sites of outstanding natural beauty.

What we do

We work with a vibrant network of volunteers and partners to promote the value of good design. This can include running school workshops, giving talks and tours of new architecture, campaigning at local level, giving awards to great buildings, keeping our members up-to-date in their training, and a host of other activities that stimulate discussion about our built environment.

Ultimately, we are driven by a desire to improve the places and spaces that surround us; that we experience in our day to day lives; and that make a real difference to the way we all live and work.

Whatever your interest in architecture and the built environment, we’re here to help.
