Herbert Rowse diplomatic site

Herbert Rowse, design for diplomatic site, New Delhi. 1951, RIBA Collections

Herbert Rowse is best known for shaping the city of Liverpool in the 1920s to 1940s with his monumental structures, including the George's Dock Ventilation Tower and the Philharmonic concert hall (recently restored by Caruso St John architects in a 2017 RIBA Award winning project). But after falling out with the client for his Woodchurch estate housing project in nearby Birkenhead he cast his sights abroad, designing diplomatic buildings in Delhi and Karachi as well as working on post-war rebuilding in Belgium.
