Pimlico housing scheme by Jessica Albery

Jessica Albery studied at the Architectural Association in the late 1920s, apparently at the encouragement of her mother who nevertheless thought it unlikely that she would become a "serious professional". Despite this, Albery went on to practice as an architect, designing a series of chalk houses in the Arts & Crafts tradition and sharing office space with fellow AA alumna Joyce Townsend.

'Cobnuts', the house Jessica Albery designed for herself in Kent, alongside Sylvia Crowe who designed the garden. Photo 1957, Sydney Newbury. RIBA Collections

These drawings are from a c.1946 unbuilt competition entry for housing on the site of Churchill Gardens in Pimlico, now occupied by Powell & Moya's scheme.
