How to become a member: 

In order to join and become a member of the RIBA, you will need to demonstrate qualifications and provide information and documents about your architectural experience.

To check whether you are eligible to become a member, please ensure you have one of the following:

  • RIBA Parts 1, 2 and 3 (or equivalent*)
    OR
  • A qualification in architecture which is covered by the EU Professional Qualifications Directive (2005/36/EC)
    AND
    access to the profession of architect in the EU country in which the qualification was gained
    AND
    a minimum of 2 years of professional practical experience 
  • OR
    RIBA Parts 1 and 2 with at least 2 years of professional post-qualification experience
  • OR
    Proof of full architect membership of one of 12 international institutes
*includes ARB exemptions and some CAA courses gained before 2012.
