Announcing the 2018 Wales Festival of Architecture

The Wales Festival of Architecture returns again in 2018, bringing together a diverse programme of interesting and architecturally-related events for the general public, delivered by local RSAW branches and partner organisations. This year's festival runs across April and May, at Aberystwyth Arts Centre and other venues across Wales.

The Wales Festival of Architecture returns in April and May for a programme of talks, films, exhibitions and workshops on the subject of architecture, design and the environment. Venturing beyond our hub at Aberystwyth Arts Centre, the 2018 Festival reaches out to a wider audience across Wales to explore the positive impact that well-considered architecture has on people’s everyday lives and experience.

This year the festival runs across two months and contains over 15 events generously delivered by local RSAW branches and partner organisations, including Aberystwyth Arts Centre, at venues across wales. Some of the events on offer so far include:

  • 'Be an architect for the day' design workshop - Saturday 21 April
  • 'A celebration of Welsh architecture in photographs and words' exhibition - 18 April to 27 May
  • 'Architecture by CAT' exhibition - 18 April to 27 May
  • 'Open Eyes: The Lindsay Evans Collection' exhibition and midday market day talk - Wednesday 18 April
  • The Conservation Coach South - Wednesday 25 April
  • 'Hfodunos: The Gilbert Scott family in Wales' lecture - Tuesday 17 April
  • 'Frank Lloyd Wright: Modern Archdruid' lecture - Thursday 26 April
  • 'Welsh regionalism: landscape, context and place' midday market day talk - Wednesday 23 May
  • RSAW Spring School: Watermarks - Friday 11 May
  • Announcement of the winners of the 2018 Welsh Architecture Awards - Thursday 31 May
  • RSAW Small Practice Surgery - Thursday 24 May
  • Ruthin Future 2 week - 22 to 28 April
  • Screening of 'Strange and Familiar: architecture of Fogo Island - Saturday 21 April
