The Architectural Periodicals Index (API) is a world-leading service that provides subject access to periodicals in all areas of architecture, the built environment, design, planning, construction and landscape.

It is one of the world’s most important sources for architectural periodical literature, and its records form an integral part of the RIBA online library catalogue. Articles are indexed to full bibliographic standards, with additional details such as contents description and historical data, making the API an invaluable reference tool for architectural students, researchers and historians globally.

Since the 1930s, the API has grown to over 550,000 index records, covering a wealth of literature ranging from 1890s periodicals to the latest journals from around the world.

Download the API list to check which periodicals are currently indexed, or visit the RIBA Library to consult our collection of 15,000 journal volumes.
