Our Journey to China
In early 2020, we established RIBA Business Information Consulting (Shanghai) Company, a wholly foreign owned enterprise (WOFE). This enables us to facilitate a diverse range of activities in China. Since then we have created a suite of programmes under the banner of Hello China to engage, inform and connect the architectural community in the country and across the globe. We also opened our office in Shanghai, one of the two very first international offices of the RIBA, in early 2020.
Following the success of our campaigns, we want to be much more accessible not only to our members but also to those who are interested in architecture and design across the country. As a digitised society, digitalisation in learning and services in China has accelerated rapidly through the pandemic, and we are pleased to be part of this transformation with our new RIBA mobile app - an easy and convenient way to access our diverse range of content, products and services.
RIBA World Architecture app in China
The app will be the WFOE’s dedicated channel which will provide insights on architecture and design, RIBA activities and local training opportunities. Key features include:
- access to information on upcoming talks, events and online galleries
- access to all RIBA Hello China talks
- exclusive access to video content including RIBA Collections and Cultural, Continuing Professional Development (CPD) sessions, talks and events
- a “pay for your knowledge” scheme will be offered to non-members to access the RIBA CPDs
- every week, two new videos will be uploaded to keep users up-to-date with what’s going on in architecture and the built environment
