See the winning entries to the first theme of our #DisappearHere social media image contest

29 August 2018

A winner has been chosen for the first theme of our Disappear Here image contest. Congratulations to Khoo Guo Jie (@khooguojie) who submitted his striking black and white photograph via Instagram.

Winning photo by Khoo Guo Jie (@khooguojie) submitted on Instagram. The image features a project by Mathias Klotz call Pond Lily, shot in Nanjing, Sifang Art Museum Park.

The theme of our contest, the first of three until October, was centred around #LookingUp, inspired by our Disappear Here: On perspective and other kinds of space exhibition currently open in the Architecture Gallery at 66 Portland Place.

Guo Jie will be receiving a Meccano model set and will have his image shared across our social media profiles to over 200,000 followers.

Runners up in the contest, left to right: Cristina Mouro (@crigmou) and David Stanley (@dontelside) with “The shiniest train station in all the land”

The judging was undertaken anonymously by our Head of Exhibitions and Interpretations, Marie Bak Mortensen, who also chose the above runner up images, narrowly missing out on the prize.

Take a look at just a small selection of the other 149 photo, drawing and video submissions.

Other entries to the contest; from left to right, top to bottom: @ivoroonie, @salixrepens, @highlandarch1, and @fieldsketches.

Thank you to everyone who entered. Stay tuned to find out the second theme of the contest, which will be announced shortly on our social media channels featuring new prizes!
