23 August 2018

Together with the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB), the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) and the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI), the RIBA will be hosting two events at the Labour and Conservative party conferences this year.

“Building the next generation: Skills, diversity and the built environment sector” will be the focus of both events which will provide members with the opportunity to engage in discussion on the future of the sector, whilst interacting with industry professionals and other attendees of Party Conference.

Why are skills and diversity so important to the built environment sector? It is estimated that the construction industry will need to find almost 230,000 new recruits between 2016-2020 to avoid the rapidly worsening skills shortage. The construction sector must draw on a talent pool of people from all backgrounds so that the sector can continue to thrive and build the next generation of skilled workers.

The two events that the RIBA will be hosting for party conferences this year include:

  • Labour Party Conference, Liverpool (Monday 24th September 2018, 19:00-21:00)
For more information, visit the events page.
  • Conservative Party Conference, Birmingham (Sunday 30th September 2018 17:30-19:00)
For more information, visit the events page.

We encourage members to attend, however do note that the events are open to all attendees of Party Conference. Book now, as places are limited and on a first come first serve basis.
