RIBA North West Student Mentoring launches for 2017/18

RIBA Student Mentoring launches in the North West for the third year. Over 220 architecture students will this year receive support from local RIBA Chartered Practices and Architects.

08 November 2017

The RIBA North West Student Mentoring scheme launched in September 2017 for the coming academic year, offering mentoring places to architecture students at the five RIBA-validated Schools of Architecture in the North West; Liverpool John Moores University, Manchester School of Architecture, University of Central Lancashire, University of Liverpool and the University of Salford.

RIBA Architectural Communities Manager Marc Heuston is pleased with the scheme's development:

'We are delighted that the student mentoring scheme in the North West continues to grow. The recent validation of the University of Salford takes us to 220 students participating for 2017/18 and we are grateful for the support and contribution of so many RIBA members.

'The RIBA is committed to supporting students to help them to develop towards becoming fully-qualified architects, whilst at the same time strengthening the links between practice, academia and the RIBA in the North West'.

The mentoring scheme provides students with an opportunity to spend time with an architect in practice, helping enhance their learning experience whilst completing their undergraduate studies.

Through personal contact and regular involvement, mentoring gives opportunities for students and mentors to discuss and develop joint understanding of professional practice in the context of the rapidly-changing role of architects. In particular, it is excellent preparation for the year-out experience and PEDR monitoring.

We are delighted to be supported by the following practices:
