The RIBA, as part of the Architects Council of Europe, alongside organisations representing the dental, medical, midwifery, nursing and veterinary professions, is calling on UK and EU negotiators to urgently reach a Brexit deal which preserves ongoing Mutual Recognition of Professional Qualifications (MRPQ) as the UK exits the European Union. The joint statement is here.
RIBA Chief Executive Alan Vallance says:
“The deadline for a deal between the UK Government and European Commission is critically close. This joint statement emphasises that it is essential for the deal to include an agreement on recognition of professional qualifications and the threat to vital services across the UK and Europe if they are absent. We urge both the European Commission and the UK Government to prevent a chaotic no-deal Brexit which would put an end to mutual recognition.”
