Coronavirus: RSAW correspondence with Welsh Government

19 May 2020

Further to the joint letter sent by RSAW, RICS in Wales and CIOB Wales to Welsh Government on 20 April, RSAW also wrote to the Welsh Government on 17 April to outline three specific concerns reported from RSAW members relating to the impact of COVID-19.

Firstly, we encouraged Welsh Government to extend the non-domestic rates relief beyond retail, leisure and hospitality premises. Secondly, we urged Welsh Government to continue with live Innovative Housing Programme (IHP) schemes. Finally, we asked Welsh Government for clarification on whether construction sites in Wales should be operational or not during this period.

RSAW received a response from Ken Skates MS, Minister for Economy, Transport and North Wales on 4 May.

Ymhellach i'r llythyr ar y cyd a anfonwyd gan RSAW, RICS yng Nghymru a CIOB Cymru at Lywodraeth Cymru ar 20 Ebrill, ysgrifennodd RSAW at Lywodraeth Cymru ar 17 Ebrill i amlinellu tri phryder penodol a adroddwyd gan aelodau RSAW yn ymwneud ag effaith COVID-19.

Yn gyntaf, gwnaethom annog Llywodraeth Cymru i ymestyn y rhyddhad ardrethi annomestig y tu hwnt i adeiladau manwerthu, hamdden a lletygarwch. Yn ail, gwnaethom annog Llywodraeth Cymru i barhau â prosiectau fyw Rhaglen Tai Arloesol trwy gydol yr amser yma. Ac yn olaf, gwnaethom ofyn i Lywodraeth Cymru am eglurhad ynghylch a ddylai safleoedd adeiladu yng Nghymru fod yn weithredol neu beidio yn ystod y cyfnod hwn.

Derbyniodd RSAW ymateb gan Ken Skates AS, y Gweinidog dros yr Economi, Trafnidiaeth a Gogledd Cymru ar 4 Mai.
