The annual RIBA Business Benchmarking survey provides vital business knowledge about how your practice compares to others across a broad spectrum of criteria. It allows you to identify areas of strength, weakness and opportunity.

The survey offers a truly in-depth evaluation of how well your practice is performing against the following criteria:

  • profit
  • turnover
  • marketing spend
  • hourly rates
  • salaries
  • client types and sectors.

Information provided to practices by the survey provides high-quality business intelligence that can inform many aspects of practice management.

The analysis gleaned from the survey is also an invaluable source of retrospective data to help shape the future of the profession.

All RIBA Chartered Practices benefit from and are required to participate in the RIBA Business Benchmarking Survey. Information is collected and analysed in complete confidence by our project partners at The Fees Bureau and MRM Solutions.

Changes to standards and enforcement procedures from 1 January 2017

We have made some changes to standards and enforcement procedures of the accreditation criteria. This is to ensure that accredited RIBA Chartered Practices continue to meet the standards set and provide quality assurance and consumer protection to clients.

The changes will mean that, if a practice is unable to continue to meet the accreditation criteria, support will be given to ensure that a practice re-establishes compliance within 3 months. However, if after re-establishing compliance a practice fails to meet the eligibility criteria within the course of the following registration year, they will be suspended from the scheme for one full subscription year.

The 2017 RIBA Business Benchmarking Survey will open on Thursday 27 April, closing on Monday 31 July.
