The first of RIBA Yorkshire's Lunch, Tour and Demonstration (LTD) events will be taking place at The Barbara Hepworth Building, The University of Huddersfield.

Named after the famous West Yorkshire born sculptor, the building’s main frontage overlooks the picturesque Huddersfield Narrow Canal which runs through the heart of the University’s campus.

This is a free event for RIBA members to gain exclusive access and insight into the newest School of Art, Design and Architecture in the UK. The University of Huddersfield Art, Design and Architecture courses will soon be co-located in this exciting, brand new facility. Experimental and forward-thinking in its design and function, the £30 million building sets the scene for creativity and multidisciplinary learning. It provides an adaptable internal space with technology at its heart, bringing digital and physical innovation together in one space, and offering state-of-the-art making facilities.

The facility houses contemporary studio spaces, up-to-date Apple Mac suites and PC labs, laser cutting workshops, a range of advanced 3D printers, impressive photography studios, and a state-of-the-art digital lab providing the latest technologies in augmented reality, virtual reality, motion capture and high performance visualisation.

Arrive at 12 noon for a light lunch and opportunity to connect with other professionals within the architectural and the wider built environment.

You will then have an exclusive tour of the amazing Barbara Hepworth Building, followed by a demonstration of the state of the art Phidias Lab led by Professor Song Wu, Associate Dean of Teaching and Learning. The demonstration provides an insight into developing and exploiting techniques in immersive environments, virtual design/reality and augmented reality disciplines.
