RIBA Bath Architects Group has organised a tour of Bath Spa University, Locksbrook Campus, which was formerly a Herman Miller factory. The tour will be given by Grimshaw, the architects of this project, who have restored the space to create a state of the art, purpose built building for students and the local community.
Originally designed in 1976 by Sir Nicholas Grimshaw for Herman Miller, the American furniture manufacturers, Bath Spa University has worked with Grimshaw Architects and constructors Willmott Dixon to ensure many historical features were retained in the redesign.
The open-plan building has technical workshops surrounded by flexible studio spaces as well as large, airy social areas.
We will meet at 6pm for a tour of the facilities, followed by a Q & A with architects.
