Be an architect for the day

Suitable for anyone with an interest in architecture aged 12+, this free workshop will give attendees a flavour of what it's like to be an architect for a day!

Have a taste of what it's like to be an architect in this informative and practical day session, hosted by RSAW in partnership with Aberystwyth Arts Centre as part of the 2019 Wales Festival of Architecture.

12.15 Spaghetti Mallow: A fun group activity to explore structural design

13.30 Group workshops

  • Workshop group 1: The humble bus stop
  • Workshop group 2: The beach hut
  • Workshop group 3: The coffee kiosk

Working in groups, you will consider your design for a new installation. You will work with our volunteer architects to create a design and present your findings at the end. 

16.00 Review of work: All workshop groups will join to consider the outcomes and display work 

16.30 Close of day

This event is free to attend but registration is essential via the Aberystwyth Arts Centre Box Office (tel: 01970 62 32 32). On-site catering is available at the Arts Centre Cafe or you are welcome to bring a packed lunch.
