Cumberland Society of Architects relaunch

An inspiring building visit and social event at The Fratry, Carlisle Cathedral, to mark the relaunch of Cumberland Society of Architects.

RIBA Members, student members and others from within the architectural profession are invited to an event to be held within The Fratry at Carlisle Cathedral, which has recently been shortlisted for the RIBA North West Awards 2022.

Completed in 2020 by Feilden Fowles Architects and contractor Cubby Construction, the project is an exciting transformation of a Grade 1 listed medieval building to extend and enhance the historic cathedral precinct. Features include a fully glazed bronze structure which links a contemporary stone pavilion with the renovated medieval Fratry itself. The design balances sensitive high-tech innovation (CNC-cut stone) with low-tech specialist craftsmanship. We hope you agree it’s the perfect place to relaunch Cumberland Society of Architects!

We invite you to tour the Fratry building and meet with other architects from the North West. The event will include a presentation by the project architect and a building tour led by the contractor's project manager. There will be a buffet and refreshments will be served.
