Design Day: Marvellous Architecture

This Easter holiday, join us for this creative architecture workshop, intended for children aged 11 to 15. Make an impact with vibrant and creative designs in comic book form, to show what future cities might look like. Marvel at your ideas for impactful architecture that minimises the environmental impact on the planet.

About the Workshop

Design Day: Marvellous Architecture
Thursday 16
April 2020, 11am to 4pm
For children aged 11 to 15

Pow! Bam! Zap! What will future architecture look like? Will there be cities in the sky, new types of underwater buildings, or even floating communities?

Join us for this one day workshop, where the future of sustainable architecture will be explored and created in comic book form. Participants will learn drawing skills, experiment with new materials, get creative with building design, and put all ideas into a comic book to take home.

This creative architecture workshop is led by artist educator Katie Kennedy, and aimed at children aged 11 to 15 years.

About the Workshop Series

Our Design Day workshops for ages 11 to 15 take architectural design a step further, by providing context and knowledge of the built environment to spark creativity.

Past workshops have focused on:

  • different architectural styles
  • small and large-scale construction methods
  • traditional and digital drawing techniques
  • architectural games
  • using software to design collaboratively in a shared space

All participants must arrive by 11am. These workshops are led by professional educators and all materials are included in the ticket price, but lunch is not provided.

If you're under 18, tickets must be booked by a parent or guardian. Online booking in advance is essential, and if we do not receive full registration information before the event we cannot allow the participant to attend.

Some of our workshops involve a visit to an offsite location that is designed to enhance the learning experience and provide vital real-world context. Children are supervised by RIBA staff and volunteers at all times during such visits and location information is provided in advance.

Workshop Costs

  • £40 excluding booking fee
  • £30 for participants who qualify for free school lunch. (Proof required)
