Design Quest: Archi-fest (in-person workshop)

In this creative architecture workshop, we will learn about different kinds of festivals and the architectural structures that make them possible. For children aged 7 to 10 years.

A festival is a celebration that bonds a community together – like music, art, food, architecture or springtime. Festivals can be local or global, offering a way for all of us to belong to a larger community. They give us an opportunity to meet new people and experience new and exciting things and be part of a big and exciting event.

At a festival, you could see brightly coloured tents and flags, pavilions and sculptures, music, and performance; there could be different things to do or make. There might be paths or routes that lead you in different directions and lots of different activities – but who plans and designs the festival? What role does the architect play – and - where should the toilets go??

In this creative architecture workshop, we will learn about different kinds of festivals and the architectural structures that make them possible. We will explore the temporary nature of festival architecture before planning, mapping out, and building our own mini festival.

This creative architecture workshop is led by artist educator Zoe Allen for children aged 7 to 10 years.
