Design Time: Location, location, vacation (in-person workshop)

Join us for this creative architecture workshop, where participants will investigate the language of architecture in different destinations around the world. For ages 11 to 14 years.

We all need to get away from it all from time to time – but where is your happy place? When you close your eyes are you transported to a cozy chalet in the mountains? A treehouse built for forest-bathing? Or does a beach hut and plenty of surf keep you entertained for hours?

In this creative architecture workshop, participants will investigate the language of architecture in different destinations around the world. Can a structure be designed and shaped to cope with different climates? What materials are the best to build from if you’re expecting a heatwave? A tropical storm? Or a wild blizzard? Are there materials already available in the place you'd like to build?

If all you want to do is relax on holiday, how can an architect make the perfect place for you to do that, no matter where in the world? We will consider the location, site, climate, design, and materials of different types of structures before designing and modelling their perfect holiday home.

This creative architecture workshop for children aged 11 to 14 will be run by artist educator Zoe Allen.
