About the workshop
Wednesday 17 August and Thursday 18 August 2022, 11am to 4pm (in-person workshop)
For children aged 11 to 14
What kind of shelter might you need when visiting or living at the beach? What inspires architects when designing structures by the sea? Are buildings different at the seaside? What does this look like? Join us for this two day creative architecture workshop to explore these ideas, then design and create your very own seaside structure model.
On day one we’ll be inspired by contemporary seaside architecture to design and make individual reimagined beach hut models. We will continue to add layers of design detail into day two and then working in groups to create 1:1 seaside structures to explore and interact with.
This creative architecture workshop for children aged 11 to 14 will be run by artist educator Katie Kennedy.
About the workshop series
Our Design Time (previously Design Day) workshops for ages 11 to 14 take architectural design a step further, by providing context and knowledge of the built environment to spark creativity.
Past workshops have focused on:
- different architectural styles
- small and large scale construction methods
- traditional and digital drawing techniques
- architectural games
- using software to design collaboratively in a shared space
