Join RIBA Learning for a morning of sewing and chat inspired by the Threading the Needle: Architecture of Care display in the V&A Architecture Galleries. Come along to meet new people or chat to an old friend, while you stitch some shapes, words, patterns or draw with thread.
We will contribute to an ongoing project titled Stitching Time, a collaborative tapestry recording our time outside of our 66 Portland Place home, where architectural learning and making will happen on-the-road.
This event is for anyone aged 55 or over that has an interest in discovering more about architecture, with a chance for discussion. Free, booking required.
Exploring Architecture is a free monthly event brought to you by RIBA Learning Team. Exploring Architecture will be delivered in various locations during the refurbishment of 66 Portland Place, London which will start in June 2025. Each month will take a different format, including tours, creative activities, and special insights into our collections with an opportunity to socialise.
About the workshop facilitators
The workshop leaders are Lil Adams and Edie Parfitt from RIBA Learning. Lil is an artist, jeweller, and educator; her sewing has been exhibited at the Royal Academy and as part of immersive exhibitions with TRACES. Edie is an architectural designer and maker, with an interest in sustainability, materiality and collaborative learning. The RIBA Learning programme provides exciting opportunities for everyone to explore, question and celebrate architecture.
After July RIBA Learning will ‘take the sew on the road’ and engage with public at different venues to build a community of stitchers and develop the piece.
