A new Folly designed by a Yorkshire schoolboy is now on show with the National Trust at the World Heritage Site of Fountains Abbey and Studley Royal.

11 year old Foster Carter’s design, The Cloud, was selected from more than 1,700 entries in a competition run by the North Yorkshire Society of Architects, a local branch of the RIBA. RIBA Learning supported the branch who worked with volunteer architects to engage 2,500 children from 50 primary schools based in the North of England to nurture architecture and design skills.

Foster’s design has been fabricated by Stage One and can be found at Silver Pond, near the Studley Royal entrance. Also on display are installations designed by Charles Holland, Lucy + Jorge Orta and FleaFolly.
