Golden Lane and Barbican walking tour with Anthony Palmer

Join photographer and educator Anthony Palmer on a walking tour to explore the architectural differences and continuities between the Golden Lane and the Barbican estates, in which two substantial new parts of London were realised.

Designed by the architects Chamberlin, Powell and Bon, and built on sites that were heavily bomb-damaged during the war, these two estates give insight into the social imperatives of housing in post-war London and its legacy today.

On this walk see the architectural differences and continuities between the estates in which two substantial new parts to the city were realised, with exciting new housing typologies, light-filled spaces, communal gardens and leisure facilities all carefully designed to meet the needs of residents.

Starting at Barbican station the walk also explores many of the high walks that make this traversing this part of the city so enjoyable.
