Guerrilla Tactics 2021: Stop, Collaborate and Listen

This year’s Guerrilla Tactics calls on architects to recognise the power of collaboration for winning work, levelling up their skills, and fostering resilience. It will ask how practices can lift each other up by pooling knowledge and resources without fear of competitive behaviour; how large and small practices can leverage their unique advantages for shared benefit; and how digital relationships can transcend local networks.

What is Guerrilla Tactics?

Guerrilla Tactics is RIBA’s annual creative business conference for small and medium sized architectural practices.

It offers a mix of inspirational conference programming around a changing theme each year, and a wide ranging CPD offer covering all 10 core curriculum topics to enable practitioners to fulfil their CPD requirements.

“Guerrilla Tactics makes being a small practice something to be proud of. You know it’s always going to deliver” - Past delegate

This year’s theme: Stop, Collaborate and Listen

Curated by Creative Directors Rob Fiehn, Mellis Haward and Kyle Buchanan, this year’s Guerrilla Tactics Conference explores collaboration.

The best design processes are facilitated by meaningful collaboration, including with clients and consultants, through public engagement, and by working with other architects. Small practices often develop specialist knowledge. What would happen if we could pool resources and experiences for shared goals? Information about materials, new technologies, zero carbon construction and best business practice should be easily available from our peers, without the need to worry about competitive behaviour. The future is bright for architects if practices can unite to win work or to level-up their skills.
