RIBA North West: Innovation/Research & Development and research-led practice

Join us for a review of the research and policy agendas informing Modern Methods of Construction including a horizon scanning workshop on post-2030 scenarios.

Join our new programme of quarterly briefing notes and lunchtime seminars delivered by Dr Derek Hales for RIBA North West. This programme outlines the various RIBA Research & Innovation tools and other initiatives available to support R&D practice at a national level.

The programme builds on RIBA’s long history of support for research as it occurs in practice, promoting the idea that architecture is research-led and providing access and summary briefing notes on the rapidly changing science technology, and innovation policy contexts.

The first briefing note will outline the agenda of the series overall, which is focussed on the idea of applied design research, and is geared – as is the whole programme in the series, to support the architect as researcher in practice rather than in the academy.

The first briefing note PDF will be available online on 22 February 2023.

Online sessions for the spring of 2023 are as follows:
