The RIBA 2021 Global Architecture photography competition was launched to create a global portrait of the built environment with respect to sustainability. From 147 entries, four top winners were chosen, one from each of the RIBA International regions, all of whom will join the event to talk about their images, why they captured their imagination and their insights on sustainability in architecture.
We will take an in-depth look at each of the winning images and hear from Iwan Baan, Head Judge, about his outstanding portfolio of work and how to create memorable and impactful architectural photos.
The session is chaired by Director of RIBA International, Azlina Bulmer and will be followed by an audience Q&A.
Speakers
Iwan Baan, Head of Jury - Iwan is a Dutch photographer who focuses on images that show how individuals, communities, and societies create, and interact, within their built environment. He is the inaugural recipient of the Julius Shulman Award for Photography and has won numerous awards, including the Golden Lion for Best Installation at the 2012 Venice Architecture Biennale. His clients include Rem Koolhaas, Zaha Hadid, Sou Fujimoto, and Herzog & de Meuron.
