Join RIBA Berkshire for an evening with Professor John Edwards, a leading voice in sustainable retrofit. Learn more about best practice and risk mitigation, drawing from real-life case studies.

This July, we are pleased to welcome Professor John Edwards to Reading for a vital lecture on the sustainable retrofit of traditional buildings.

In this lecture, Professor Edwards will guide attendees through a whole-building approach to retrofit, rooted in best practice and risk mitigation. Drawing from real-life case studies, he will explore how to apply standards and guidance to ensure sustainable outcomes that respect the unique needs of historic properties.

This talk is essential for architects, surveyors, and built environment professionals looking to deepen their understanding of retrofit strategies that are both technically sound and conservation-aware.

The lecture will begin at 7pm.

Accessibility

Thames Lido is a short walk from Reading Station, and parking is available at Hills Meadow Car Park nearby. The Lido has one dedicated space for disabled drivers. Blue badge holders may also park on the double yellow lines on Kings Meadow Road for up to two hours, which is closer to the venue than the main car park.

The reception area is fully wheelchair accessible with no obstructions, and a lift near the bar entrance provides access to the first-floor function room.
