RIBA Gloucestershire innovation series: Designing for dementia with VR

Join us for a talk on the use of virtual reality in facilitating sensitive design for people living with dementia.

The RIBA Gloucestershire innovation series is back.

As part of Mental Health Awareness Week, we have chosen to illuminate the possibilities of virtual reality when developing more intuitive design for people living with dementia.

Dementia is one of the most significant health crises of the 21st century. With a continuously growing number of people expected to be living with dementia, we need to consider how they experience their surroundings, and how architecture can be more sensitive to these requirements.

Shaz Hawkins, Segment Marketing Manager for Health, Aged Care and Education (UK and Ireland) at Tarkett, will demonstrate the use of their "Virtual Reality Empathy Platform," developed as a design tool to simulate an environment as seen through the eyes of someone living with dementia, and towards facilitating more thoughtful architectural design.

This event will be hosted on Microsoft Teams.
