Great British Buildings gives you an exclusive look at some of the this year’s RIBA award winning buildings in the London. Join the architect for a one off architectural tour as they reveal the stories behind the building, what inspired them and what makes their building an RIBA Award winner.
As part of this series of events showcasing 2018's Award winners, we will tour The Waterloo City Farm, London's most central urban farm. It was established in 2014 on a formerly overgrown and neglected plot of land south of Westminster Bridge owned by Guys and St Thomas' hospital. Since this time the site has been transformed into a collaborative home for a trio of organisations with a shared focus on education: architects Feilden Fowles and the charities Jamie's Farm and Oasis Waterloo.
The building was described by the jury panel during the RIBA Awards process as:
‘This project by three organisations has brought to life an unused wasteland, provided an enjoyable place for workers to occupy and gives delight to those that visit. .’
