Join the RIBA North West Conservation, heritage, and sustainability group for an exciting journey through the historical streets of Manchester with our knowledgeable RIBA NW Tour Guide.
Discover the rich architectural heritage of this vibrant city. The tour will explore some of Manchester’s hidden gems as well as sharing some of the lesser known stories behind some of Manchester’s most important historic buildings. The tour will focus on the Castlefield and Deansgate area of Manchester.
This in person event will start at Manchester Central Library at 5pm and will end at Cathedral gardens at around 6.30/7pm.
About the tour guide
Alexandra Fairclough has a passion for caring, conserving, and sharing all of the cultural heritage of northern England- she is an architectural historian and heritage specialist, barrister, and Design and Conservation lead at Bolton Council.
Alexandra is a historic buildings and landscapes specialist and an experienced tourist guide with a track record of providing architectural and historical tours for RIBA across the north west. As a member of Cumbria Guides, Manchester Guides, and Bridgewater Guide groups, she loves to welcome visitors to the fabulous north west of England and show them the historical features and cultural delights. Alexandra is also the current North West Chair for The Institute of Historic Building Conservation.
