RIBA North West: Williamson's Tunnels tour, talk, and social

Join RIBA North West and Liverpool Architectural Society for a tour, talk, and social at Williamson's Tunnels

Williamson's Tunnels are a maze-like network of tunnels underneath the Edge Hill area of Liverpool, constructed by merchant Joseph Williamson in the early part of the 19th century. The tunnels consist of brick vaulting over the underlying sandstone.

Mystery surrounds the purpose of the tunnels construction, with popular theories including Williamson's philanthropic desire to provide employment, commercial quarrying his own eccentric interests.

Join RIBA North West and Liverpool Architectural Society to explore Williamson's Tunnels in a two part event - featuring an online talk and an in-person tour and social in Liverpool. Attendees are welcome to join us for either or both events.

This event is kindly sponsored by Ibstock Brick.
