This special event offers attendees the opportunity to explore the ongoing restoration and transformation of one of Wigan’s most significant Grade II* historic landmarks: Haigh Hall.
Beginning at the main entrance, the tour will include both the hall and the surrounding gardens, with expert insight from the architect leading the project. Purcell, serving as both conservation architect and heritage consultant, is undertaking a wide-ranging programme of works at Haigh Hall. These include essential external repairs, the restoration of the historic Plantation Gates and lodges, and the sensitive transformation of the Cottage and associated outbuildings.
The tour will also offer a look at the plans for the new glasshouses at the Bothy Yard, and the team’s collaboration on a low carbon energy transition for the hall and wider estate; bringing together heritage preservation with environmental responsibility.
This is a fantastic opportunity to gain behind-the-scenes access to a major conservation project, and to discuss the challenges and opportunities of working with historic fabric in a contemporary context.
